No Beer Pairing Today
Happy middle of the week, friends! I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far! Zach and I are settling into our new town. It’s been fun, stressful, amazing, annoying…you know the deal. I feel like these emotions pretty much sum up any moving experience. It’s been more fun than anything else though.
When we lived in Colorado, we had access to endless hiking trails. I’m serious…the trails in Colorado are endless. The problem with where we lived though was that it was at least an hour’s drive to get to those trails. We lived just on the verge of the plains of Colorado, where the front range is in full view from all angles.
Here in Wyoming, we have access to trails just steps from our front door. It’s amazing, and we plan on taking full advantage of it for the rest of the summer. This is where the necessary nourishments come in to play. Zach and I have always been huge hikers. We’ve done many a backpacking trips and have learned what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to keeping our bellies full on the trail.
Although it is totally cliché, trail mix is still one of our favorite things to munch on during a long hike. Sure we’ve tried the occasional Clif bar, but it’s never as good as whipping up your own batch of trail mix. What’s so great about trail mix is that you can put just about anything you want into it. I have to have something sweet with my salty, so there is always some kind of chocolate involved. Chocolate-covered sunflower seeds are usually my go-to as it takes a long time for them to get melty, and they provide just enough sweetness where it’s not overwhelming. My go-to nut of choice? Why, almonds of course! Almonds pack so much flavor and nutritious quality. They are a must-have on the trail!
My go-to recipe for the ultimate hiking trail mix is below. Feel free to alter the recipe in any way you see fit. The sky is the limit when it comes to trail mix! Have a wonderful day friends! I’ll talk to you all tomorrow! xo

- 2 cups Blue Diamond Roasted Salted Almonds
- 1 cup granola flavor is up to you
