Hawaiian Teriyaki Burgers

Ingredients

Hawaiian Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 2 cloves of garlic mashed into a paste

Hawaiian Teriyaki Burgers

  • nonstick canola oil spray
  • 1 pound ground beef seasoned and formed into 4 equal-sized patties
  • 4 slices muenster cheese
  • 4 brioche buns lightly toasted
  • 4 leaves of green leaf lettuce
  • 4 slices of pineapple
  • 8 slices of bacon cooked until crisp
  • 1 avocado pitted, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients for the Hawaiian teriyaki sauce in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir frequently until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside to cool. Store in an airtight container for 2 weeks.
  • Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Spray with a nonstick spray, and add the burgers. Cook for about 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Melt the cheese on the burgers for the last two minutes of cooking time. Remove from heat and set aside to rest.
  • Assemble your burgers by layering the burger patties, lettuce, pineapple, bacon and avocado on the toasted buns. Drizzle with Hawaiian teriyaki sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Enjoy immediately!
