Do you remember that time when I made Coconut Cookies and Cream Milkshakes? Well, that same day I also made it’s less attractive younger brother: the Citrus Vanilla Milkshake. It was a hot couple of days. What can I say? I was craving a milkshake, or four milkshakes…which is how many I had when all was said and done. Hey. You have to live a little sometimes. Anyway, this milkshake is a creamsicle. There I said it. It literally tastes just like a creamsicle, but in milkshake form. No mess…No fuss…Just deliciousness in a mason jar.

I’ll have you know it has been a rough couple of days. Do you remember on Monday when I said that I had a gazillion things to get done before we leave on Friday? Well, I STILL have a gazillion things to get done. The difference between then and now, is that now I only have 1 1/2 days left to get everything done, instead of 4. Ahhhhhhh! Why am I so behind you ask?!
Well, first things first. Many of you already know that we bought a brand new house. Yup, brand new. We built it from the ground up. As it is with anything “new,” you have issues when you first move in. We have had some serious electrical issues. You would think that with something so new you would avoid all of the problems you encounter when you buy an older home. This would not be the case for this house in particular … which by the way I love and adore to pieces.
Besides dealing with the electrical issues (which are now mostly fixed! woohoo!) for the past couple of days, I also have another little story to share with you. Are you ready for this?
Brace yourselves.
Please don’t laugh at me.
I beg of you.
Raise your hand if you love your garbage disposal?! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE … have a deep connection with … my garbage disposal. I’m THAT person who would probably not buy a house if it didn’t have one. Yup, just like the annoying couples on House Hunters that you just want to smack across the face sometimes, but yes, when it comes to a garbage disposal, I have to have one.
My love for it doesn’t coincide with how I treat it though, and I learned my lesson big time! Yesterday morning (this was during the time that I was supposed to be catching up on all of my cooking, photography and blog posts for you all to enjoy while I’m away), I was cleaning up the kitchen like I always do in the AM. Well, my super smart self decided that sticky rice would make a great addition to our little drain. Hey, I was in a zone. I just wanted to get everything done. Plop. I literally threw the entire bowl of leftover sticky rice down the drain.
As a result, I clogged the drain, one of the bolts blew off underneath the sink and literally started spewing water and “gunk” all over the inside of the cabinet. I’m not kidding you, there was at least an inch of water. Thank God for wet-vacs … am I right or am I right!? This wasn’t even the biggest problem. The whole drain was completely clogged. Zach was NOT happy with me. Let’s just say that. We tried everything, but $165 later, and with the help of the best plumber ever, we fixed our little dilemma…or should we say MY little dilemma. Zach is STILL not happy with me. :(
So, this is why I got nothing done yesterday.
It’s ok. I’m an idiot. I learned my lesson. God forgive me.
This is my story, and why I decided to share this citrus vanilla milkshake recipe with you today. Not only was it an easy one to write up, it’s just as easy to make as well! It’s such a great cool-you-down beverage for the summer. It’s so deliciously smooth and silky, you will want seconds. Trust me.
P.S. Cute straws are mandatory.
There will be no beer pairing today. It just didn’t seem right. Sorry guys. *sad face*
I hope you all are having a great week! Here’s the easy peasy recipe!

So you totally aren’t an idiot because until you told me the story about the rice I didn’t know it couldn’t go down the garbage disposal either, I knew about grease, but not about rice. These shakes look so good! I’m a sucker for anything creamsicle in flavor. Just checked next week’s weather and while you are off enjoying cool temperatures I see 90’s here, definitely going to need to make one of these shakes!
Haha, I think grease is the only thing I knew about too! I saw that it was supposed to be super warm here next week! I’m partially jealous! We have had some crazy weather here lately! I totally advise that you make some! xoxo
I’m so sorry about your garbage disposal! I would be totally freaking out if that happened to me. Ps I had no idea you can’t put rice down a gd. Also that’s amazing that in only cost $165 to have a new one put in! And you have these yummy milkshakes to show for it all. They sound fabulous! Creamsicle is my mom’s favorite thing ever; pinning these for her!
Thanks, girl! I WAS totally freaking out! Thanks for pinning!

This milkshake sounds delicious! Kind of like an orange creamsicle! Hope you get everything done before you leave. Nothing like last minute scrambling and packing to make you really enjoy your vacation : )
